Race Report – Cyclopark (Kent) Masters E/1/2/3/4 06/05/2016
Mid Devon CC Race Team member Jason Kettle rode the Cyclopark (Kent) Masters E/1/2/3/4 last week taking second with an impressive ride! Jason’s report below
The Cyclopark is probably the best and most interesting closed road circuit in the country.
it is blessed with sharp climbs, hairpin bends, 2 long straights, and all set in an always windy, exposed
location next to the A2 in Kent.
Also, at 1.5 miles, you get no laps out for any reason!

The race started fast with the usual attacks from the off. In the second lap there was a crash in front of me which meant chasing back on for the next lap! Which certainly woke me up!
From then on I just sat in and assessed who were my threats and who to watch.
The attacks were constant from Adalta Race Team, Nuun Sigma Sport and Look Mum No Hands riders, which I was happy to see because, firstly they were burning matches and secondly the field was disintegrating faster than a chocolate fire guard!
By the last five laps there was only about 10 left in the front group, 2 to go saw one of the favorites puncture (race over for him) (Quiet happy, he had quads like Chris Hoy!)(1st Cat PMR@Toachim house rider)
Then it was cat and mouse until the final 300 mtrs, I was sitting in probably 5/6th wheel, The sprint opened up,so I went around the outside, and managed to take 2nd on the line, From a very srong 1st Cat, and a rider who normally podiums every race!
Fairly happy with such a strong field, but always in the back of my mind, I wanted a repeat of last year where I won the same event.
