Race Report – WestPoint Round 9 – Louie takes the win!
After having a 2 week break since my last race (the national champs) I was going into this feeling quite good. The race wasn’t as long as it usually is because of a lack of day light. It was a very aggressive race with people trying to break away every couple of laps. With about 5 or 6 laps to go Ash Towey went off the front with another guy and they had about half a lap on the main bunch. With 3 laps to go the bunch had upped it’s pace and managed to bring them back.
It was clear that it was going to be a sprint finish now. I moved my way up the group nicely and was sitting in about 4th wheel going into the last couple corners. I launched my sprint a tad bit early and managed to pull away from the bunch with one other guy where we battled it out for 1st and 2nd. I managed to out sprint him and took the win, much to my surprise! Very happy with the result and looking forward to my next race which is a National in Scarborough.
